LONDON (ICIS news)--INEOS Polyolefins plans to restart both of its low density polyethylene (LDPE) lines in Cologne, Germany, by the end of next week, a company source said on Wednesday.

One of the two LDPE lines had already started a planned maintenance turnaround when the other went down unplanned on 8 May, prompting the company to declare force majeure on 11 May.

The company source said the technical problem which caused the unplanned shutdown had been identified and work was under way to resolve the issue.

The LDPE line was expected back on stream sometime next week, while the planned outage at the other line was on course to finish on 25 May, according to schedule.

INEOS Polyolefins has an annual LDPE capacity of 350,000 tonnes/year at its Cologne site, divided more or less evenly between the two lines.

Latest LDPE spot prices were heard around €1,190-1,210/tonne ($1,608-1,635/tonne) FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe) by global chemical market intelligence service, ICIS pricing, with demand good and product availability tight.
