NOVA’s US plant back at normal rates soon

HOUTON (ICIS news)--NOVA Chemical said on Friday that its Bayport ethylbenzene unit in Pasadena, Texas, should be at normal operating rates within the next few days, following a shutdown earlier in the week.

NOVA said in a filing with Texas environmental regulators on 23 May that it shut its EB unit due to a fire.

The company added that the impact to production was minimal, and the shutdown should have no major affect on the markets.

The Bayport plant has an EB capacity of 880,000 tonnes/year and a styrene capacity of 770,000 tonnes/year, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.
