SINGAPORE (ICIS news)-- PTT Chemical, Thailand’s largest olefins producer, is shutting down its 460,000 tonne/year cracker in Mab Ta Phut, Rayong province, for maintenance after a two-day delay, a company source said on Monday.
The slight delay was due to “some preparations [which were] not complete” for the shut-down, he said.
The unit, which has been renamed I-1 cracker, was initially scheduled to be shut on 26 May for 30 days.
During the maintenance, it will clear the blockage at the quench unit, which has caused the cracker to run intermittently between 75-100% since April. It was expected to restart on 28 June, the source said.
The company did not offer any spot propylene cargo for June loading due to a technical problem at its 510,000 tonne/year I-4 No 1 cracker, he added.
It was operating only at 90% of its capacity and it was unclear when the problem will be solved, he said.
PTT Chemical did not offer July propylene cargoes but its selling ideas were heard at $1,100/tonne FOB (free on board)
