SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Formosa Chemicals and Fibre Corp (FCFC) does not expect any delay in achieving on-spec production at its new No3 aromatics complex later in June despite a fire on Thursday, company sources said.
"We’ll stick to the trial runs schedule and we still hope to achieve on-spec production in the later part of this month," one of the sources said in Mandarin on Friday.
However, traders said the complex would need to be shut for two to three days for further investigations.
The company said it suffered little damage from a fire which occurred at the cooling unit in the complex yesterday. Two persons were injured.
FCFC’s No 3 aromatics complex at Mailiao can produce 700,000 tonnes/year of PX, 400,000 tonnes/year of benzene, 600,000 tonnes/year of styrene monomer (SM) and 150,000 tonnes/year of orthoxylene (OX).
The complex started up last week, along with the new 1.2m tonne/year No 3 cracker, which was last heard operating at around 70%.
