LONDON (ICIS news)--INEOS Olefins’ butadiene (BD) extraction unit in Grangemouth, UK, was brought back up on 2 June according to schedule, a company source said on Tuesday.
The 70,000 tonne/year unit went down for planned maintenance in mid-April for 45 days, but the turnaround period was later extended by a week.
The source said the company was intending to operate the plant at full rates in spite of the force majeure declared on Grangemouth butadiene production last week.
Force majeure was declared when INEOS Olefins identified additional work to be done during a shutdown at its G4 cracker, putting it out of action for a further three months.
Other major European butadiene producers include Basell, BASF, Dow, Exxon, SABIC and Shell.
