TOKYO (ICIS news)--Japan produced 2.8% more ethylene in May compared with the previous month, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said on Friday.?xml:namespace>
The country produced 642,200 tonnes of ethylene in May, up from 624,400 tonnes in April. This was a 9.2% increase from 588,300 tonnes produced in the same period a year ago, the ministry said.
Two plants were shut down for maintenance turnarounds in May, while one plant was shut down in the previous month. Three plants were undergoing turnarounds in May 2006.
