SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Aekyung Huatai, a dioctyl phthalate (DOP) maker in Ningbo, China, has shut its plant on 9 June for a scheduled turnaround.

The 150,000 tonne/year plant will be shut for about 10 days, the company source said late on Friday.

Faced with persistently high feedstock 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH) prices and weak sales of DOP, many producers have been operating on reduced rates or have shut their plants on the back of thin profit margins.

DOP prices have languished at yuan (CNY) 14,750-14,850/tonne ($1,925-1,939/tonne) ex-tank in east China despite repeated attempts by producers to increase prices.

2-EH prices were pegged at CNY15,300/tonne ex-tank in east China.
