The country exported 22,990 tonnes of benzene in April, up 29.4% compared with 17,767 tonnes in March, the Japan Aromatic Industry Association said.
Japan imported 5,996 tonnes of benzene in April.
The association said 32,832 tonnes of toluene was exported in April, up 12.2% compared with 29,269 tonnes in March, while 2,002 tonnes of toluene was imported in April, down 0.9% compared with 2,020 tonnes a month earlier.
On the other hand, exports of mixed xylenes in April fell 39.6% to 24,004 tonnes from 39,754 tonnes in the previous month.
For derivatives of benzene, 17,366 tonnes of phenol was exported in April, up 45.2% from 11,960 tonnes in March, according to the association.
However, 5,793 tonnes of phenol was imported in the same period, down 39.5% from 9,577 tonnes in March.
Japan exported 14,487 tonnes of bisphenol A (BPA) in April, a 0.5% increase from 14,554 tonnes in the month-ago period, while 2,483 tonnes of BPA was imported in the same period, 2,483 tonnes of BPA was imported, a 0.4% decrease from 2,493 tonnes month-on-month.
The country exported 11,989 tonnes of toluene diisocyanate (TDI), toluene’s derivative and a raw material of urethane foam, in April, a 15% decrease from 14,106 tonnes a month earlier, while it imported 914 tonnes of TDI in the same period, 3.7% increase from 881 tonnes in March.
The exports of terephthalic acid (PTA) in April fell 16.5% to 25,879 tonnes from 31,003 tonnes in March, while the imports of PTA during the same time fell 44.2% to 609 tonnes from 1,091 tonnes month-on-month, the association said.
