MOVES: Clariant makes senior management hires

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Swiss specialty chemicals maker Clariant announced on Wednesday a series of senior management changes aimed at improving the company’s global business performance.

 

“Our strategic direction is the right one and we are making progress toward achieving our goals. To further accelerate our progress, I have made several key appointments to strengthen the team and to deliver on our promises,” said Clariant CEO Jan Secher.

 

Philippe Royer, previously from global aluminium group Alcoa, has been appointed head of textile leather & paper chemicals division, taking over from Peter Piringer on 1 July 2007.

 

Okke Koo, previously CEO of Netherlands-based starch manufacturer Avebe, has been appointed head of pigments & additives effective 1 August 2007.

 

Andres Walde will be replacing Herbert Wohlmann as the new head of group legal, who is retiring on 1 September 2007.

 

Renaud Spitz has been appointed as the head of the group operational excellence reporting to the CEO. Arnaud Frete will take over Spitz’s current position, country president for France.

 

Hans Schmidt has been appointed as regional president Europe and the current head of finance and administration for Germany, Henri Schloemer, will take over Schmidt’s position as the country president for Germany.

 

Hartmut Wiezer, head of group technology, will continue to be a consultant to the company’s selected key projects after his retirement at the end of the year.

 

Head of group communications, Walter Vaterluas, will be leaving the company in August 2007.
