MUMBAI (ICIS news)--India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has postponed the conference for prospective bidders for construction of its planned Indian rupees (Rs) 136bn ($3.3bn) dual-feed olefins complex in Dahej, Gujarat state, to 26 June, a senior company source said on Wednesday.

The conference was to take place on 8 June in Mumbai but the source was unable to outline the reasons for the delay of the pre-bid meeting. Construction on the project is expected to start in January 2008 and take 40 months.

"In all, seven companies and consortiums including Stone and Webster, ABB, EPP Samsung and L&T have bid for the lumpsum turnkey project," he told ICIS news.

ONGC had also been in talks with Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC) and a few other firms regarding technical, financial and operational collaboration in the project, separate to construction, ICIS news reported earlier.

The last date for submission of bids is likely to be 24 August.

The project will be implemented by ONGC joint venture ONGC Petro-additions, the other partner being Gujarat State Petroleum Corp (GSPC).
