No reason was given for his departure, and association officials were not immediately available to comment. Late last year, the association said Slaughter was taking a leave of absence for health-related reasons.
NPRA chairman James Mahoney said in a statement that Slaughter’s leadership “has proven to be an outstanding asset to our industry during tumultuous times on Capitol Hill and through two administrations that have held vastly opposing views on how to develop and implement national energy policy”.
Mahoney, who serves as operations vice president at Koch Industries, said that as a result of Slaughter’s guidance, “NPRA and our industry are stronger than ever”.
“We wish him the very best in the future,” Mahoney said.
Slaughter was named president of the association in 2002. Previously he had served as the group’s general counsel.
In a statement accompanying the announcement, Slaughter expressed thanks to the association’s staff in
