MUMBAI (ICIS news)--Sweden-based Perstorp will jointly build a 20,000-25,000 tonne/year penta plant in Al-Jubail, Saudi Arabia, with Chemanol, a company official said on Monday.
"Chemanol [formerly Saudi Formaldehyde Chemical Company] would be responsible for building the plant and production, while Perstorp would provide the technology and handle sales of the end products through its existing sales channels," Mats Olofsson, Perstorp business unit manager for basic polyols, told ICIS news.
Engineering for the plant has been completed and the supply orders are being placed, the niche specialty chemicals’ company said.
"The plant is likely to be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2008 and is expected to be fully operational by the first quarter of 2009," Olofsson added.
Perstorp produces penta, an industrial wood preservative used to treat utility poles, in five other countries.
