HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Dow Chemical has resumed full production of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) at its Plaquemine plant in Louisiana, a company spokeswoman said on Monday.

VCM production at Dow’s Plaquemine plant had been interrupted for scheduled maintenance, said company spokesperson Jeanine Sohayda. VCM production was restarted during the weekend.

Sohayda declined to comment on how much VCM was produced at the Plaquemine plant nor how long the plant had been shut.

Market sources said the Plaquemine plant produces about 680,000 tonnes/year of VCM.

US VCM prices rapidly increased to $650-710/tonne FOB (free on board) USG (US Gulf) in mid-June largely due to ongoing production issues at a number of VCM plants amid strong demand, market sources said.
