BEIJING (ICIS news)--Malaysia's Mission Biofuels plans to start commercial production at its 100,000 tonne/year biodiesel and 12,000 tonne/year glycerine purification plants on 1 August, a company source said on Thursday.

“We have begun the trial run of these two units at Kuantan port, Malaysia, recently and production runs well,” she told ICIS news at the China Biofuels and Ethanol Outlook 2007 Conference here.

Meanwhile, Mission Biofuels had also started construction of another biodiesel plant with a capacity of 250,000 tonnes/year at the same site, which will commence production in May 2008, she added.

The company had a five-year feedstock supply off-take contract with another Malaysian company, using crude palm oil as its primary feedstock, she said, adding the company’s key market for biodiesel would be Europe.

The conference ends today.
