SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--Chinese polyvinyl chloride (PVC) producer Hangzhou Electrochemical Group plans to shut down its PVC plant on 3 July for a scheduled turnaround, a company source said on Thursday.

The 60,000 tonne/year carbide-based PVC plant planned to shut down for about five days, the source added.

Although the shutdown will decrease its PVC output into the market by a few hundred tonnes, market sources said the move is unlikely to halt east China PVC prices from further falls.

The carbide-based PVC EXWH (ex-warehouse) price in east China was now in a range of CNY7, 250-7,350/tonne ($951-965/tonne), CNY 600/tonne lower than 20 days ago on bearish market sentiment and thin downstream demand, traders said.

Hangzhou Electrochemical, located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, also runs a 110,000 tonne/year caustic soda plant.
