Sibur uses US technology for new ethylbenzene unit

MOSCOW (ICIS news)--Russia’s Sibur said on Thursday its subsidiary Sibur-Khimprom has selected US-based Badger Licensing LLC to provide technology for its new 220,000/tonne year ethylbenzene facility in the Urals, without disclosing financial details.

 

Sibur-Khimprom’s new unit was scheduled for completion in 2008, the company said, adding the new capacity would be needed to expand styrene production.

 

Based in Perm, Russia, Sibur-Khimprom runs three plants: OAO Perm Gas Refinery, OAO Butyl Alcohol Plant and OAO Stirol.
