TORONTO (ICIS news)--Sigma-Aldrich has promoted Gerrit van den Dool to vice president sales and David Smoller to president of its research biotech business unit, the US fine chemicals and bioscience firm said on Thursday.

Van den Dool’s position was newly created. He will relocate from a current assignment in Germany to Sigma’s base in St. Louis, Missouri, where he will report directly to chief executive Jai Nagarkatti, the company said.

Smoller is replacing Shaf Yousaf, who resigned as president of the research biotech business unit. Like van den Dool, Smoller will report directly to Nagarkatti, Sigma said.
