PRAGUE (ICIS news)--Austria’s OMV said on Monday it has decided to go ahead with a plan to build a 10-15m tonne/year refinery complex in Ceyhan, Turkey, in partnership with Petrol Ofisi.

Turkey’s energy markets regulator awarded the two companies a license for the project, costing more than $3bn (€2.2bn), at the end of June.

OMV, which holds a 35.1% stake in the Turkish fuel retailer, Petrol Ofisi said petrochemical units could be attached to the refinery.

The Mediterranean port of Ceyhan is positioned at one end of the new 1m bbl/day Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline which transports oil from the Caspian Sea region.
