MOSCOW (ICIS news)--The authorities of Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region, have pledged support for the Sibur/SolVin/RusVinyl joint venture, the petrochemical holding company Sibur said in a statement on Thursday.

On 12 July, Nizhny Novgorod regional governor Valery Shantsev signed an agreement with representatives of Sibur, Solvay and SolVin, to support infrastructure development needed for the construction of the RusVinyl PVC (polyvinyl chloride) plant.

On 28 June, Sibur and SolVin formed RusVinyl LLC in order to build a new 330,000 tonnes/year PVC plant in Kstovo, where Sibur already operates Kstovo petrochemical plant.

The construction of the new plant is expected to start in 2008, and it is due on stream in 2010 to produce suspension and emulsion PVC, while its capacity could be raised eventually to 500,000 tonnes/year.
