SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Emerson Process Management said late on Tuesday that it has won a contract to digitally automate BP’s second purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in southern China.
Besides being the main instrument vendor, the US-based company will engineer and manage the automation project, it said in a statement.
Emerson did not disclose financial details of the contract.
BP is building its second 900,000 tonne/year joint venture plant in Zhuhai, Guangdong province, to start up by the end of this year. Once completed, the combined PTA capacity at the Zhuhai site will be 1.4m tonnes/year.
BP Zhuhai is a joint venture with BP (85%) and Fu Hua Group (15%).
