SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Polychem Indonesia will restart its 125,000 tonne/year monoethylene glycol (MEG) No 2 line in Merak, Java island, this weekend, after shutting down the unit on 16 July for repairs, a company official said on Wednesday.

Because of the outages at this and its No 1 line, the company would not be offering any spot MEG cargoes for arrival until September, said the official.

“The [No 2] line was shut on Monday and we’re currently carrying out some minor repair works, which should end by 21 or 22 July,” the official said.

Meanwhile, a leak at the company’s 90,000 tonne/year MEG No 1 line at the same Merak site had been rectified and it had been running at full capacity since last week, he added.

Polychem is Indonesia’s only MEG producer.
