SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Malaysia-based aromatics producer Titan Chemicals will restart its benzene and toluene units over the weekend after a scheduled shutdown, said a company source on Friday.
The plant, which was shut down early last week for a catalyst change, was expected to produce on-spec material within a day, the source added.
The aromatics plant is located in the port town of Pasir Gudang and produces 130,000 tonnes/year of benzene, 70,000 tonnes/year of toluene and about 40,000 tonnes/year of mixed aromatics (also called C8 and C9).
Other major aromatics producers in southeast Asia include ExxonMobil, Petrochemical Corp of Singapore (PCS) and IRPC in Thailand.
