SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--South Korean refiner S-Oil Corp is running its 73,000 bbl/day residual fluid catalytic cracker (RFCC) unit in Onsan at 85% capacity after a month-long scheduled maintenance, a company source said on Monday.
The RFCC unit, which can produce 200,000 tonnes/year of propylene, restarted a day earlier than initially planned after it was shut on 19 June.
The unit, which restarted early on Sunday morning, is expected to run at full capacity by Monday evening latest, he said. It was initially slated for a restart on 23 July.
During the shutdown, S-Oil reported selling three spot propylene cargoes in total for early to mid August loading at $965-1,010/tonne FOB (free on board)
The source added that they may have some more spot August loading cargoes to sell after the restart, but may choose to keep for September sales as prices were expected to rise further.
Some of the South Korean producers were indicating selling ideas at $1,060-1,100/tonne for August loading parcels, while most others channelled feedstock to maximise downstream production.
