China's polymer exports rise in June

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--China exported more polymers in June compared with the same month a year ago, statistics from the customs bureau released on Wednesday showed..

Last month, the country exported 2,834 tonnes of high density polyethylene (HDPE), 47% higher than the a year ago.

It also exported 16% more low density PE (LDPE) while exports of linear low density PE (LLDPE) surged 406% to 708 tonnes.

Exports of polystyrene grew 168% to 30,842 tonnes, followed by acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) at 112% to 3,247 tonnes.

Polycarbonate (PC) and polypropylene (PP) exports went up by 28% and 1% respectively.

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) exports, however, fell by 26%.

China imported less polymers last month, with the strongest drop seen by HDPE, which fell 93%.

Only PS, ABS and PC imports grew slightly, at 2%, 7% and 1% respectively.

Imports of ethylene surged 539% to 44,049 tonnes and propylene exports doubled to 54,153 tonnes.

The country imported less butadiene but exported 563% of the product in June.

In June, mixed xylenes (MX) and paraxylene (PX) imports jumped 490% and 122% respectively. Benzene exports, however, soared to 8,906 tonnes versus 47 tonnes in 2006.

For other products, China exported 372% more methanol but 92% less ethanol.
