SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Indonesia’s Polyprima Karyareksa will restart its 480,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant at Cilegon after a week-long shutdown, a company official said on Wednesday.
“The shutdown did not affect supplies to any of our customers, we have enough inventories [and] the catalyst change was also long overdue so we have to carry it out now,” said the official, explaining the decision to stop the plant despite rosy sales for PTA over the past month.
Meanwhile, spot PTA prices were not affected by Polyprima’s shutdown, maintaining a stable-to-soft trend at $925-930/tonne (€673-677/tonne) CFR (cost & freight) CMP (China Main Port).
