SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Formosa Petrochemical (FPCC) is set to restart a residual fluid catalytic cracker (RFCC) at its 540,000 bbl/day Mailiao refinery in Taiwan later Wednesday or Thursday, a source close to the company said.
The 83,950 bbl/day RFCC No 1 was shutdown on 16 July for unspecified mechanical repairs.
The RFCC No 1, together with the 83,950 bbl/day RFCC No 2, provides feedstock for two propylene recovery units at Mailiao, which produce polymer grade propylene.
The source said that following the restart of RFCC No 1 run rates through the 500,000 tonne/year propylene recovery unit (PR) No 2, would be increased. Rates had been reduced to 60% following the shutdown. The other propylene unit, the 250,000 tonne/year PR No 1, is presently offline and only run when production levels are increased.
