LONDON (ICIS news)--INEOS Olefins’ KG cracker at Grangemouth in the UK faces around four weeks of essential maintenance work, according to a company statement on Friday.
The 725,000 tonne/year cracker reportedly suffered unplanned issues, although no precise dates were given as to when they started.
The news came just as the company’s smaller, 320,000 tonne/year G4 cracker at the same site was successfully restarted.
Force majeure was declared on ethylene from the site on 29 May after technical issues halted output and this would remain in place as a result of the latest outage.
The statement then added that the company would work with its ethylene customers to ensure that any disruption was minimised.
INEOS Polyolefins produces 350,000 tonnes/year of C6 linear low density polyethylene from the same site.
It would work with customers to reduce any impact of the loss of raw material supply, a company source said on Friday.
