HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Southern Chemical Corporation (SCC), a leading supplier of methanol to North America, has expanded its distribution network by purchasing the remaining interest in Southern Garrett, company officials said on Friday.
The value of the transaction was not disclosed.
Southern Garrett will become a wholly owned subsidiary and will likely change its name, but no operational or logistical changes were anticipated, SCC president Jan Spin said.
“Today’s announcement is a significant step in our commitment to further expand our distribution network, enhance our customer service and add to the security of supply of methanol to our customers,” Spin said in a press release.
Southern Garrett distributes over 50m gal (150,000 tonnes) of methanol annually from terminals in the southern US, according to its Web site.
