SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Yisheng Petrochemical will shut its No1 purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in early September for maintenance works, a company official said Monday.

The 660,000 tonne/year plant at Ningbo in the eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang will be shut for about 10 days.

"We will start the turnaround either between 3 to 6 September, I cannot pinpoint," said the official, who added that contract supplies to its customers would not be disrupted as the company had enough inventories to meet demand.

Operations at Yisheng’s other 600,000 tonne/year PTA unit at the same Ningbo site are expected to be keep to normal levels during No1’s shutdown.

Yisheng is a 50:50 joint venture between local polyester producers Zhejiang Heng Yi and Xiaoshan Rong Sheng. The bulk of the PTA produced by Yisheng is consumed by the two parents.
