NEW DELHI (ICIS news)--Indian petrochemical and petroleum logistics major Aegis Logistics Limited (ALL) said on Monday that it would set up a liquids handling business at Haldia port in West Bengal.

The company said it had been allotted land for the project at Haldia by Kolkata Port Trust without providing any additional information on this project.

ALL currently operates a 20,000 tonne/year refrigerated liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) terminal in association with Hindustan Aegis LPG Limited (HALPG) at Pir Pau Jetty at Mumbai Port. The former markets LPG, propane and propylene imported through this facility.

Formerly Aegis Chemical Industries, ALL also operates a liquids terminal at the same site which handles various petrochemicals and petroleum products.

Apart from expanding capacity at Pir Pau, the company is working on a 10-year strategy to set up national network of oil and chemical logistics facilities at both ports and inland. It is looking at both greenfield projects as well as acquisition opportunities.

The company last year acquired Sealord Containers Limited which operates a chemicals storage project at Mahul in the Mumbai port area and has plans to set up a bulk liquids terminal.
