HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Brazilian biodiesel maker Ecodiesel said on Thursday it produced 62.6m litres (16.5m gal) of biodiesel in the first-half of 2007, or 51.5% of Brazil’s total output in the period.
Brazil produced 121.5m litres of biodiesel between January and June, Ecodiesel said, quoting figures from the National Petroleum Agency (ANP).
In June, Ecodiesel said it produced 17.8m litres of the biofuel, which accounted for 68.7% of the country’s total output of 25.9m litres that month.
The company launched large-scale production of the product in the second half of 2006, and, as a result, did not provide comparisons with the year-earlier period.
Founded in 2003, Ecodiesel has six plants in Brazil with capacity to produce 640m litres/year of biodiesel. For the latest chemical news, data and analysis that directly impacts your business sign up for a free trial to ICIS news - the breaking online news service for the global chemical industry.
