HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Brazilian agribusiness group Bertin plans to build two more biodiesel plants that will use both animal fat and vegetable oil as feedstocks, a company spokesperson said on Thursday.
Bertin on Wednesday inaugurated a 110m litre/year biodiesel plant in Lins,
The spokesperson said the two planned plants were still in project status, but each facility would have about 100m litre/year of capacity, one of which would be located near a slaughterhouse owned by the company in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul state.
Bertin also plans to build an ethanol plant in Mato Grosso do Sul, with capacity to crush 4m tonnes/year of sugarcane.
Under normal production conditions, one tonne of sugarcane yields about 90 litres of ethanol.
Bertin expects its ethanol plant to be operational in 2009, the spokesperson said.
