Saudi refineries to undergo maintenanceSINGAPORE (ICIS news)--A number of shutdowns are planned at refineries in Saudi Arabia from late 2007 and into the first-half of 2008, an industry source said on Wednesday.

State oil company Saudi Aramco is set to shutdown its 400,000 bbl/day Rabigh refinery on the Red Sea Coast in November 2007 for around 20 days.

Rabigh is hydro-skimming refinery with no secondary cracking facilities. Its main product is fuel oil, along with naphtha and jet/kerosene.

From March to April 2008 the Saudi Aramco Shell Refinery Company (SASREF) is reported to be undertaking the shutdown of hydro-desulphurising facilities at its 360,000 bbl/day Jubail refinery located on the Arabian Gulf coast.

Meanwhile, also in April 2008 the 100,000 bbl/day Jeddah refinery, on the Red Sea Coast, operated by Saudi Aramco is set to undergo a full shutdown for four weeks.

Later in mid 2008 various units at Saudi Aramco’s inland 120,000 bbl/day Riyadh refinery are scheduled to shutdown for repairs.

The work will involve catalyst changes and maintenance on heat exchangers.

The units affected were understood to include a 34,000 bbl/day hydrocracker.

Saudi Aramco officials were unavailable for comment.
