MUMBAI (ICIS news)--Construction work at Lanxess' new ion exchange resin plant in Gujarat, India, is set to begin in the second quarter of 2008, the company announced on Friday.
Production at the €30m ($41.1m) site was scheduled to begin by the start of 2010 and it would employ 200 workers, said the German firm.
"The new plant will manufacture products for industrial water treatment and the generation of ultra-pure water for the semi-conductor and pharmaceutical industries," the company said.
The Jhagadia Chemical Park in Gujarat was selected for the site because it already had an excellent industrial infrastructure in place, the company added.
It was previously reported on ICIS news that the company was in the location analysis stage of the project.
