LONDON (ICIS news)--Phthalic anhydride (PA) producer Perstorp will shut its 35,000 tonne/year PA and 60/000 tonne/year dioctyl phthalate (DOP) plant at Nol, Sweden on 1 September for 10 days of maintenance, a company source said on Friday.
The source added that the company had not been active in the PA spot market recently as it had been preparing for the shutdown.

As a result of the prevailing tightness on upstream PA, the European DOP market has also experienced a shortage of material, accompanied by strong demand.
Prices have remained relatively stable through August, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing, but buyers expressed fears over another push for increases in September.
European PA producers include Arkema. Atmosa, Kemiplas and Cepsa. DOP producers include Arkema, OXEA and Lonza.
