LONDON (ICIS news)--Swiss companies Clariant and Schoeller Technologies announced a strategic partnership on Friday for the production and distribution of a nanotechnology-based textile finish.

Clariant said in a statement that the company would be taking over production, sales and distribution worldwide of the Schoeller-patented NanoSphere.

“In Clariant, we have found the right partner to market and further develop NanoSphere applications,” said Schoeller CEO Hans-Jurger Hubner.

“Clariant’s expertise and technical know-how in textile chemicals, worldwide distribution and its support network will allow us to provide customers everywhere with the benefits offered by NanoSphere on a local basis.”

The product provides textiles with a naturally self-cleaning and liquid repelling effect, Clariant said. Schoeller’s technology is currently being used in outdoor, sports, business and work wear.
