NEW DELHI (ICIS news)--India’s Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited (GSFC) will produce four water-soluble grades of specialty fertilizers including urea phosphate for foliar applications as well as micro-irrigation, a company source said on Friday.

The source said GSFC would start marketing urea phosphate containing 17% nitrogen and 44% phosphate in April 2008 following government approval under its Fertilisers Control Order (FCO).

The company is setting up a 1,500 tonne/year urea phosphate plant based on in-house technology at Baroda in Gujarat State. It also holds FCO approval for three such other specialty fertilizers.

The company is also working on a proposal to set up a sulphuric acid plant at Sikka to meet its captive requirements for production of phosphoric acid.

GSFC is also implementing clean development mechanism (CDM) projects for reducing emission of greenhouse gases at its production sites in Gujarat. The projects envisage recovery of energy from off-gases discharged by its Vadodara caprolactam plant located and setting up 10-megawatt wind power project.
