PRAGUE (ICIS news)--Biocol, a new biodiesel market entrant in Poland, said on Friday it had started up production and was planning an initial public offering (IPO) on the Warsaw stock exchange in the first quarter of 2008.

Based in Katowice, southern Poland, the company is currently producing 6,000 tonnes/year of biodiesel containing rapeseed methyl ester (ROME) but hopes to achieve an extensive expansion by 2010, said a company spokesman.

He added that the company CEO is Grzegorz Slaka, the former head of the Trzebinia biodiesel unit of Poland’s PKN Orlen oil and petrochemicals group.

Biocol currently imports its ROME from Austria and Germany and mixes it with Polish diesel, but hopes to produce its own ROME in Poland by 2009.
