IOC PTA plant to be at full capacity in 2-3 weeks

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Indian Oil Corp (IOC) aims to rectify a mechanical problem, which is causing its purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in Panipat to run 15% below capacity, in two to three weeks, a company source said on Tuesday.

 

“The fault happened about two weeks ago,” said the source, who was unable to reveal the specific problem at the 550,000 tonne/year plant.

 

Because of the reduced PTA output, IOC was looking to export a spot paraxylene (PX) cargo in October, the source added. The PTA unit is integrated with a 362,000 tonne/year feedstock PX line at the same site.

 

“We’ve not decided yet on whether we can export but we are definitely mulling to see if there is such an opportunity,” said the source.
