SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Taiwan’s Chimei-Asahi will shut its No 1 65,000 tonne/year polycarbonate (PC) unit in Jen Te for a month-long turnaround in mid-October, a company official said on Wednesday.

The No 2 75,000 tonne/year unit would be running during this period, he said.

There would be no disruption to customers as the company planned to build up inventories before the shutdown, the official added. Both units are currently operating at full capacities.

The company operates two units at the site which produce both optical grade and general purpose moulding PC.

Chimei-Asahi is a 90:10 joint venture of Chi-Mei and Asahi Kasei.
