SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Iran’s Marun Petrochemical will shut its 1.1m tonne/year cracker for 10-15 days for unscheduled repairs, a source close to the company said on Thursday.
“The cracker will be shut at the very end of this month for 10 to 15 days at the most for a mechanical change,” he said, adding that downstream plants will reduce operating rates in accordance with the reduction of ethylene supply.
Ethylene is fed downstream to a 300,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene (HDPE) unit and a 300,000 tonne/year low density PE (LDPE) unit.
The other downstream plants, such as the 400,000 tonne/year monoethylene glycol (MEG) plant, will keep low production rates.
