SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Ningbo Mitsubishi Chemical (NMC) will restart its 600,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in eastern China by this weekend, after a brief shutdown due to an unspecified mechanical fault, a company source said.

“The shutdown was very short, just half a week or so, so volumes lost are not much,” said the source, who declined to specify the cause of the fault.

NMC is a joint venture of Japan’s Mitsubishi Chemical, Mitsubishi Corp and Itochu Corp, as well as Chinese conglomerate the Citic group.
