LONDON (ICIS news)--European ethylene oxide (EO) producer Sasol will restart its 200,000 tonne/year unit in Marl, Germany, on schedule on Friday after maintenance, a company source said.

The plant went down for a six-week planned turnaround and catalyst change on 10 August.

“Once EO production is smooth we will look after the derivatives,” the source said, adding that ethanolamines production would likely begin next week.

The shutdown was one of several planned during the third quarter which put strain on both supply and logistics.

European EO producers also include INEOS, Shell and BASF.
