SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--India’s Finolex Industries has resumed full production at its 130,000 tonne/year polyvinyl chloride (PVC) unit in Ratnagiri three weeks later than originally scheduled, after procuring additional feedstock following a shortage, a company source said on Monday.

There was now adequate vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) feedstock availability to maintain 100% operating rates at the unit for the rest of the year, he added.

The line had been operating at 50% capacity since early August due to a shortage of VCM.

The reduced production had not had much of an impact on the Indian PVC market as consumption had been rather sluggish in the past few weeks due to the prolonged monsoon season, traders said.

Finolex's second 130,000 tonne/year line in Ratnagiri continued to run at full capacity during the period.

The company is India’s second largest PVC producer after Reliance Industries.
