DUBAI (ICIS news)--Qatar Fertilizer Company (Qafco) is finalising negotiations with Snamprogetti of Italy for the implementation of a project to build two ammonia plants and a urea facility, the company said in a statement on Monday.

The Qafco-5 project will be set up as part of the Qatari company’s complex in Mesaieed, with the two ammonia plants having a combined production capacity of 4,400 tonnes/day, while the urea plant will have a production capacity of 3,800 tonnes/day.

The contract signing is slated for the end of the current year but Qafco declined to release more details about the deal.

The total cost of the project and its financing sources had not yet been fixed, Qafco said, adding more details on the overall cost and financing methods would be available over the next two months.
