Solvay's PTFE plant to be completed by Q1 2008

LONDON (ICIS news)--Solvay Solexis’ new polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) micronised powder plant in Changshu, China will be completed and in operation in the first-quarter of 2008, parent company Solvay said on Monday.

  

“Among the subsequent development projects considered in Changshu Solvay Solexis is planning to build an integrated production plant for the manufacturing of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) for coating applications and related monomers,” the company added.

 

PTFE micronised powders are used in a variety of applications including the manufacture of cosmetics, high gloss inks, high performance lubricants and heat-resistant materials.

 

PVDF resin is used as a base material for long-life architectural coating systems for metal, glass and other exterior surfaces.
