SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Iran’s Marun Petrochemical has raised operating rates at its 1.1m tonne/year cracker to 85% from 75% after restarting it in the last week of September, a source close to the company said on Wednesday.

The cracker located at Bandar Imam, was shut for repairs for a week and not for 10-15 days as earlier anticipated, the source said.

The derivative plants were not affected by the cracker shutdown, he added.

“Marun is running its polyethylene (PE) plant at 70% operating rate,” the source said.

Ethylene from the cracker is fed downstream to a 300,000 tonne/year high density PE (HDPE) plant and a 400,000 tonne/year monoethylene glycol (MEG) plant.
