SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Naturol Bioenergy, will start production at its 100,000 tonne/year integrated biodiesel plant in mid-October, a company spokesman said on Thursday.

The plant in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh will use crude palm oil (CPO) and palm fatty acid distillate (PFAD) for feedstock.

Aside from producing biodiesel, it will also have the capacity for the production of 10,000 tonnes of pharmaceutical glycerin per year.

The rupee (Rs)1.4bn ($36m) investment was funded in part by equity from venture capitalists investors (40%) and by term loans from banks (60%).

India’s first privately-owned bio-fuel producing company imports feedstock from Indonesia, Malaysia and Africa, but has plans to develop local feedstock through contract farming of Jatropha.

The company has also entered into long-term export agreements with petroleum intermediaries, for the export of biodiesel to US and some EU countries.

The plant will run at full capacity from November, the spokesman said.

The Kakinada plant is expected to have an impact on company earnings from the end of November, he added.
