LONDON (ICIS news)--Spanish producer Abengoa has started the construction of a 480,000 tonne/year bioethanol plant in the port of Rotterdam, Netherlands, the port authority said on Thursday.?xml:namespace>
Located in the central Europoort area, Abengoa said the new plant would be in a privileged location to meet growing ethanol demand in ?xml:namespace>
Abengoa was not immediately available to say when it expected to start production at the plant.
Earlier this year, Abengoa chairman Javier Salgado said the company would invest more than €1bn ($1.4bn) in its bioethanol production capacity over the next three years to build eight new plants - four in Europe and four in the US.
