HOUSTON (ICIS news)--INEOS said on Thursday it will combine its silicas division with PQ, a US specialty-chemical firm recently acquired by The Carlyle Group.
UK-based INEOS will own about 40% of the combined business, and The Carlyle Group will own the rest, INEOS said.
The combined business will become a global producer of specialty inorganic chemicals, catalysts and engineered glass products, INEOS said. Combined sales revenue will be $1bn (€710m)/year.
The Carlyle Group completed the acquisition of PQ in July. PQ makes silicate-based speciality chemicals, zeolite-based catalysts and glass spheres.
